American College of Pediatricians Alerts Women to Abortion Breast Cancer Link During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast cancer cases have risen dramatically in recent decades around the world, and 1 in 8 American women will face the diagnosis. In recognition of October as Breast Cancer Awareness month, the American College of Pediatricians (ACPeds) alerts women to the fact that elective abortion is directly linked to the rise in breast cancer. 

Dr. Jane Anderson, author of the ACPeds Reproductive Choices and Breast Cancer Risk position statement said, “Aborting a pregnancy prior to 8 months gestation significantly increases women’s risk for breast cancer. The greatest risk is found among women aborting their first child and those who have a family history of breast cancer.”

Multiple studies from around the world have confirmed the abortion breast cancer link. Induced abortion interferes with normal breast cell maturation during pregnancy and prevents breast cells from developing cancer resistance. Induced abortion actually leaves breast cells in a state of heightened vulnerability. In contrast, every child carried to term and every month of breastfeeding an infant, protects women against developing breast cancer.
