Our Positions
The mission of the ACPeds is to enable all children to reach their optimal physical and emotional health and well-being. To this end, the ACPeds produces position and policy statements on matters unique to the child and the family. These statements are based upon the best available research, and will assist parents, policymakers, legislators, and society in advocating for that which is best for children, adolescents and their families.

The ACPeds will occasionally partner with like-minded organizations to create Amicus Briefs addressing issues related to the health and well-being of children and their families.
Issues in Medical Ethics
Basic Principles for Medical Ethics: Beneficence, Non Maleficence, and Justice. Medicine is not merely a technical scientific vocation, but also a moral endeavor. In medicine, health professionals do not only gather and provide information to patients, they also advise patients as to what they should or should not do. Every medical recommendation to act, or not act, involves a moral choice predicated upon the physician’s philosophical worldview.
Freedom of Conscience in Medicine
The freedom to practice medicine in accordance with a well-formed conscience is one lasting principle that dissuades our culture from embracing the atrocities of autocratic societies, both past and present. Suppressing freedom of conscience would have devastating effects on both physician supply and physician burnout.
