Atlanta, GA - The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled on Wednesday in favor of protecting women and girls from the health and safety risks of chemical abortion drugs. The American College of Pediatricians (ACPeds) is a plaintiff in Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. U.S. Food and Drug Administration which was filed in November 2022.

In response to the ruling, ACPeds released the following statement:

ACPeds is proud to stand up for its patients against FDA’s reckless approval of unregulated mail-order chemical abortion drugs. The Fifth Circuit’s ruling requires that the FDA restore original safeguards such as a seven week gestational limit and end the shipment of chemical abortion drugs by mail. Chemical abortion drugs pose a serious threat to the health and safety of women and girls, and the restoration of safeguards is a crucial step in putting patients before politics. We will continue to advocate for the highest levels of care for human life at every stage.”
