Gainesville, FL—Today, pro-life leaders held a press conference detailing the circumstances and showing shocking footage surrounding the finding of five aborted late-term babies and over 100 first-trimester babies. At the press conference, the pro-life leaders revealed that Curtis Bay Medical Waste Services intercepted 115 babies (110 first trimester babies, and 5 late term abortion babies) from the office of Washington, D.C. abortionist Santangelo Cesare at the Washington Surgi-Clinic. The leaders stated that Curtis Bay incinerates the babies for energy in the Baltimore area.

The leaders revealed last week that the late gestational ages of the five babies as well as their apparent sustained injuries potentially show violations of the Partial Birth Abortion Act of 2003 as well as the Born Alive Infants Protection Act of 2002, both of which are federal crimes. Several medical experts, including Dr. Robin Pierucci, Chair of the American College of Pediatricians (ACPeds) Pro-life Council and a neonatologist, weighed in on the babies’ gestational age, and method of injury (here and here).

ACPeds is a national organization of pediatricians and other healthcare professionals dedicated to the health and well-being of all children, born and pre-born.

Dr. Robin Pierucci released the following statement:

“The American College of Pediatricians is appalled and shocked by these revelations and asks that the proper authorities investigate if these late-term infants have been killed due to an illegal partial birth abortion or after being born alive. ACPeds believes that life begins at fertilization and that every human being, born and pre-born is precious and must be protected.  True "reproductive justice" to both the mothers and their babies requires healthcare that leaves both patients healthier, not a baby dead and a mother wounded.”

The conference may be viewed here.
