Atlanta, GA– On Friday, the American College of Pediatricians (ACPeds) joined as a plaintiff in a lawsuit that was filed by Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) against the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) over its approval and deregulation of chemical abortion pills. ADF filed this lawsuit on behalf of Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine, the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the ACPeds, the Christian Medical & Dental Associations, and doctors Shaun Jester, Regina Frost-Clark, Tyler Johnson, and George Delgado.
Dr. Richard Sandler of the ACPeds Pro-Life Council released the following statement, “Chemical abortion pills can be dangerous for women and girls, and the FDA is displaying callous disregard for the health and safety of these patients through their deregulation efforts. The FDA’s actions on chemical abortions follows neither good science nor good medicine. As physicians committed to acting in the best interests of children and their parents, we invite the FDA to do the same by immediately scrapping their chemical abortion policy, which abandons girls and women in favor of political expediency and agenda driven actions.”
Dr. Jane Anderson will be releasing a paper soon on chemical abortion and had this to say, “The American College of Pediatricians strongly encourages health care professionals, policy makers, and women of all ages and their families to understand the serious risks associated with chemical abortions, especially when self-managed.”
The lawsuit, Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. U.S. Food and Drug Administration was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Amarillo Division.
