Join a Committee or Council!
Board members are encouraged to be activity involved in the operation of ACPeds. Joining a committee or council is a good way to get started. Email us at admin@acpeds.org to get connected with a committee or council chair.
SCIENTIFIC POLICY COMMITTEE: The Scientific Policy Committee (SPC) shall consist of a minimum of four (4) Members and at least one board member serving as committee chair. Its duties shall be to review all position statements submitted by committees or members for endorsement by the ACPeds. They are to ensure that papers presented for publishing by the ACPeds adhere to the ACPeds mission and the ACPeds Instructions for Authors. SPC also vets all references to verify that the references support the statement(s) made and are of good scientific quality.
Time commitment: 4-6 hours per month
ADOLESCENT SEXUALITY COUNCIL: The Council on Adolescent Sexuality shall consist of at least one ACPeds Board member and up to six ACPeds members. It generates policy statements and information regarding healthy sexual choices, including the importance and success of sexual risk avoidance (SRA) education for children and teens. It also serves as a resource for issues related to gender ideology.
Time commitment: 2-4 hours per month
PRO-LIFE COUNCIL: The ACPeds Pro-Life council oversees all ACPeds efforts in its mission to preserve the sanctity of human life in all of its stages. The committee will review all ACPeds resources on the pro-life issue and will oversee producing blogs, position statements, and press releases on relevant pro-life issues. Time commitment: 2-5 hours per month

RIGHT OF CONSCIENCE COUNCIL: This council identifies issues that protect the rights of healthcare professionals to practice according to their religious and moral values. Just like the other councils, it generates policies and public statements.

WEB COMMITTEE: The Web Committee shall consist of at least one (1) Board member and may include up to three (3) additional ACPeds members. This committee is responsible for the development and maintenance of the ACPeds website.
Time commitment: 2-4 hours per month
Task Forces are periodically summoned by the Executive Director or the President to assist him or her in carrying out various tasks that have time-limited goals and responsibilities.
