Bylaws Changes 2024

Dear Members,

First of all, I want to thank you for your dedication to the American College of Pediatricians and your efforts to provide what is "Best for Children".  Without your active membership we would not be having such success and influence in pediatric healthcare.

In our ongoing efforts to keep ACPeds poised for success, we formed a Strategic Planning Task Force to guide our decisions a few months ago. In this process we have met with organizational consultants to professionally advise us in our planning. Their first recommendation was to review our mission statements to insure they accurately and completely defined the ACPeds today. After much deliberation, we have several suggested edits to Article II Mission, Vision, & Values section of the Bylaws. The edits we are proposing do not change our mission in substance, but merely further defines the mission given today’s new challenges and threats to the well-being of children and their families.

The founders of the College set the bar high for any changes to be made to this core section of the Bylaws. In fact, the proposed changes require a ¾ affirmative vote of the entire membership eligible to vote, which includes Fellows, Specialty Fellows, Emeritus Fellows, and Retired Fellows. Much thought and work has gone into these proposed changes - the first for our Bylaws in over 20 years - but we believe they will benefit both ACPeds and our overall goal to serve children, families, and pediatricians.

Follow steps 1 and 2 below to review the Bylaw changes and register your vote. Your vote is extremely important to us, so please register your vote today (so we will not have to fill your inbox with annoying reminders 😊). Also, if you have questions, concerns or need any clarifications about these changes, feel free to contact Jackie in the office and we will reply. Thank you in advance for your help and support.

Sincerely,

Michael Artigues, M.D., FCP
President, American College of Pediatricians
