Michael Artigues, MD
President

Dr. Artigues received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University in '88 and medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical School in '92 where he also completed his pediatric residency in '95. He practices general pediatrics in McComb, MS as a partner in the McComb Children's Clinic where he lives with my wife. They have six children and a growing number of grandchildren. Dr. Artigues was involved with the Bioethics section of the AAP for a number of years and enjoys writing occasional articles for the local newspaper on various topics of interest. He has served as board member and president of the local Crisis Pregnancy and Child Advocacy Centers, and has been a member of the American College of Pediatricians board since 2014, currently serving as President.
Dr. Artigues has an appreciation for music and sports and spends much of his free time engaged in church and his children's activities. He also has a great interest in theology and matters of faith, and recognizes the pivotal role religion plays both in his local community and America as a whole. He shares the passion of ACPeds to promote what is best for children. As a practitioner in an underserved and socio-economically depressed population, Dr. Artigues sees the damage resulting from the breakdown of the family unit and how this affects small town America. As a private practitioner and business owner, he also appreciates the impact the economy, organized medicine and government regulations have on small businesses - good and bad. He feels responsible to do more than superficially address the immediate needs of his patients and, as a member of ACPeds, he enjoys being part of a pediatric advocacy group that is willing to do the same.
